Our story
Dr. Waff is primarily retired, but he still stops by. And some of the people in our chairs have been patients here for over thirty years.
Meet the doctors
Both studied at the University of Virginia, both went on to dental school at VCU, and both completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in St. Petersburg, Florida. They never stop taking courses.
Dr. Waff built it, and Dr. Lee and Dr. Davis continue it. All three names are still lettered on the glass of Suite 103.
A native Virginian, raised in Richmond. UVA, then dental school at VCU, then an AEGD residency in St. Petersburg, Florida, with training under the Dawson Academy and the Pankey Institute. A Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, with a special interest in cosmetic and implant dentistry.

Born in Monterey, California, and raised a Navy kid. UVA, then dental school at VCU, graduating magna cum laude, then an AEGD residency in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she stayed on as assistant director. Part of this practice since 2006.

Brenda has been a hygienist here since 1994 and Jodi since 2004. Brenda, Jodi and Kristen are our three licensed hygienists, and the front desk and assistants have been with us for years.

How a visit works
We pride ourselves on individualized care for each patient. Here is what that looks like in practice.
At your first appointment your hygienist and doctor take the time to hear any concerns about your teeth, gums or smile. Then we explain what we found, talk through the options and answer your questions.
Brenda, Jodi or Kristen will screen for gum disease, decay and oral cancer and build a hygiene plan around your mouth: more cleanings a year, a deep cleaning, fluoride or sealants, as needed.
If something hurts, call the front desk. We see emergencies during regular office hours and do our best to fit you in that same day, and on evenings and weekends our doctors are there for patients of record.

We file every dental insurance claim for you as a courtesy and help you make the most of your benefits. We are not in-network with any company, so treatment is planned around you, not a plan’s limits.
Most plans let you choose an out-of-network dentist, and in most cases the difference in coverage is minimal. Our team is happy to check yours.

Common questions
We file claims for every dental insurance plan as a courtesy, and we work with you to get the most from your benefits. We are not in-network with any insurance company, which lets us plan treatment around your needs rather than a plan's limits. Most plans let you choose an out-of-network dentist, usually with only a small difference in coverage.
Usually a comprehensive evaluation, a review of your treatment options and a professional cleaning. Your hygienist and doctor will listen to any concerns first. Please bring x-rays from a previous dentist if you have them, a list of your medications and your insurance information.
Call us. We see emergencies during regular office hours and do our best to fit you in the same day you call. On evenings and weekends, our doctors are available to patients of record.
We love treating the whole family, and generally start seeing children at about ten years of age. For infants, younger children and complex needs we refer to trusted pediatric offices in Charlottesville.
Implants are planned together with highly trained periodontal or oral surgery specialists. A trusted local specialist places the implant, and Dr. Lee or Dr. Davis makes and fits the crown, bridge or denture it supports.
Our rotary instruments clean the inside of the tooth quietly and efficiently, and our local anesthetic techniques are there to keep the whole appointment comfortable. The goal is always to save your natural tooth.
